How to Eliminate 4 Putts and Reduce 3 Putts
Your goal needs to be to get the ball close to the hole every putt, at this stage you do not need to make any putts over 3 feet (one putter length). The goal is to completely eliminate 4 putts by learning how to lag the ball close to the whole from long distances.
You’ll need to know some basics about how to putt, you can get those with this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNOWSgr3cic
After that, you need to develop your skills, you can do that by playing games and doing drills. Check out the drills below:
Drill 1: Find a hole on the practice green, take 10 paces away from it and drop 3 golf balls, hit all 3 balls toward the hole. Repeat until you make a 1-putt.
Drill 2: find a hole take 10 paces away from it and drop 5 balls, from this spot hit all 5 balls to the hole, repeat the drill until all five balls are within a putter length of the hole.
Drill 3: Repeat drill 2 from 15 paces away
Drill 4: on the practice green find a hole and take 10 paces away from it, drop down three balls. Hit all three trying to get them as close to the hole as possible, try to tap them all in. If you 3 putt any of them that’s plus 1 and any 2 putts is minus 1. Take 10 paces away in a different direction, play the same game. Keep doing this until you have reached minus 10. If you get to plus 10 that’s game over and you’re allowed to start over.
